His reasons for pursuing law: With a father and a stepfather both serving as highly visible police officers, Manaen S. Robinson, IV always felt an attraction to public affairs.
But it wasn’t until the day that he accompanied his father, then Millsboro Police Chief Manaen S. Robinson III, into a local convenience store that he realized the true power of the law. As soon as the two walked into the store – Chief Robinson was in uniform – a man ran out. At the register was the distraught teller who had been saved from violence at the hands of the would-be thief and rapist who fled upon seeing the uniformed policeman.
“I was a young kid but I remember realizing how important the law was,” he recalls. His interest was piqued by stories he heard from his father and stepfather, retired Delaware State Police Lt. Rick Chamberlin.
Robinson went to the University of Delaware assuming that his degree in criminal justice would lead to a career in law enforcement. But the more he studied, the more he realized that he really wanted to defend the law rather than enforce it.
